Job Opportunity – Workshop/ Testing Technician

R-Tech Materials is a specialist materials testing and consultancy business, based in Port Talbot, South Wales. We have a UKAS accredited test laboratory specialising in the testing of steel products for the construction industry, and composite materials across a wide range of engineering applications. We also have a materials consultancy business specialising in plant integrity and failure analysis in the power, petrochemical and process industries.

R-Tech Materials is offering an opportunity for a trained workshop technician to join our growing team. The role will include basic cutting and machining of steel and composite samples for testing. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to manage the inventory and storage of samples and have some involvement in testing of steel products.

The role would suit a candidate with a sound knowledge of manual machining, turning, milling, drilling and surface grinding, including set-up of machines. Experience of 2D drawing packages and CNC turning and milling would be an advantage, as would training and experience in fork lift truck driving. The successful candidate will be computer literate, and be able to follow instructions from management and the Lead Technician.

The position will be based at our laboratory in Port Talbot, South Wales. A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
